Abbott Elementary Shines with Schoolwide Clean-Up and New Mural

Abbott Elementary School received a colorful transformation during the recent Lynwood Commitment Clean-Up, where the campus was transformed through gardening, fresh coats of paint and a vibrant new mural that celebrates Abbott’s core values.

The May 31 event – a collaborative effort by Lynwood Unified, the City of Lynwood and the Reformed Church of Los Angeles – brought together students, families, staff and community volunteers for a day of service, connection and school pride.

During the clean-up, students and volunteers painted a new mural designed by artist Ritchie Kong, reflecting Abbott’s schoolwide motto: DASH, which stands for Do our best, Act responsibly, Show respect and Have high expectations.

These Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) values came to life as students rolled up their sleeves to beautify their school, leaving their mark on the campus and uplifting the spirit of the Lynwood community.

Lynwood Unified remains committed to creating spaces where students can build meaningful connections with their community and neighbors. Events like the Lynwood Commitment empower students to take pride in their schools, learn the value of service, and see the difference they can make. A stronger community builds stronger schools and stronger students.
