Lynwood Unified continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of all students and has taken proactive steps over the past several months to enhance safety at Helen Keller Elementary School to address community and family input.

These efforts are part of a broader commitment to maintaining a visible presence on campus and strengthening relationships with students and families.

“Our goal is to make sure students and families feel safe and supported every day,” Lynwood Unified Chief of Security Paul Garcia said. “By being present, engaging with our community and working together, we are creating an environment where students feel comfortable coming to school and families feel confident in their child’s safety.”

Safety enhancements include:

  • Increased Campus Safety Officer presence during student arrival and dismissal to support safe passage to and from campus
  • Ongoing evaluation of upgraded camera systems and perimeter security
  • Addition of a new entry and exit gate to support safe and efficient access for students and families

The District continues to collaborate with the City of Lynwood and local law enforcement to support a safe and well-coordinated environment surrounding the school. Safety efforts will remain in place through the end of the school year, continue during summer programming, and inform additional improvements for the upcoming school year.
