Your payroll is currently paid in two installments, on the 10th and the 25th of each month. The 25th payroll is called Earned Salary Advance (ESA). The gross salary amount used for the ESA is 50% of your regular monthly salary less all your deductions. The deductions are items subtracted from your paycheck such as CalPERS retirement contribution, medical insurance out-of-pocket cost, garnishment, TSA contributions and any deductions you elected.
