Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
The Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is a key state-required document that helps schools set goals for student success. It outlines how each school plans to meet the learning needs of its students — especially those who need extra support — and how specific funding will be used to support those goals.
Each SPSA must include:
Clear, site-specific academic goals based on student performance data
-
Instructional strategies to accelerate student learning
-
Plans to regularly monitor student progress
-
Identified interventions to support for students who are not yet meeting grade-level expectations
-
Professional development opportunities for teachers and staff
-
Ways to communicate and engage with families
-
Budget estimates and funding sources
-
Collaboration with school site advisory groups
Who develops the SPSA?
The School Site Council (SSC) leads the development and regular review of the SPSA, working closely with the school’s leadership team and advisory groups. Their input is based on student performance data, student needs, identified goals, appropriate interventions/preventions, and associated budgets. This collaboration ensures the plan reflects the voices of our school community.
The SSC’s work is documented through meeting agendas and minutes, and records of the plan’s development and progress are maintained for seven years, plus the current school year.
