Foster Care Services
Students-in-Care Program
At Lynwood Unified, we are committed to ensuring that foster youth receive the care, stability, and support they need to thrive in school and beyond. Through our Students-In-Care program, we align with LCAP goals and California educational laws to support the academic, emotional, and social development of youth in foster care.
Our team works to build strong support networks and connect students with the services and resources they need to succeed. We provide individualized assistance with enrollment, educational planning, counseling, and referrals to both school-based and community-based services.
Support Services Include:
Immediate Enrollment
Foster youth are guaranteed immediate school enrollment in accordance with AB 490.
Counseling & Educational Support
We provide access to counseling and ensure foster youth receive the educational rights and supports outlined in AB 490.
Credit Recovery & Graduation Support
Students with limited credits may qualify for partial credit recovery. Those entering high school may also be eligible for graduation credit reduction under AB 216.
Referrals to Community Resources
Foster youth are connected to services such as counseling, college prep, and mentorship programs through trusted community partners.
