Citizens' Oversight Committee
The Lynwood Unified Citizens’ Oversight Committee was created to promote transparency and accountability in the use of voter-approved funds designated for school facility improvements and new construction. As a state-required body, the committee ensures that public funds are used solely for the purposes approved by voters and not for salaries or operating expenses.
Purpose and Responsibilities
The Citizens’ Oversight Committee serves as an independent advisory group that:
-
Reviews how funds from Measures K (2012), N (2016), and U (2024) are being spent
-
Ensures that expenditures align with voter-approved projects
-
Provides oversight and verification that no funds are used for staff salaries or administration
-
Presents an annual report to the Board of Education and the Lynwood community
Through these efforts, the committee helps maintain public confidence in the District’s stewardship of community-supported funding.
