College Readiness (AP)

At Lynwood Unified, we believe every student deserves a clear path to college — and we’re proud to offer nationally recognized college readiness programs that help make it happen.Through our rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) courses, our high school students challenge themselves academically, earn college credit while still in high school, and prepare to succeed at some of the top universities in the nation.

Available at Lynwood High School and Firebaugh High School, our AP courses allow students to take college-level classes in subjects ranging from English and Math to Science, History, and World Languages.

By enrolling in AP courses, students can:

  • Deepen their subject knowledge

  • Build strong writing, research, and time management skills

  • Strengthen their college applications

  • Earn college credit by scoring a 3 or higher on the AP Exam

Students who participate in AP are more likely to attend college, graduate on time, and thrive academically.

AP courses not only prepare students for the rigors of college — they can also help reduce college costs and shorten the time needed to earn a degree.

In 2024, Lynwood High School was recognized on the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll for expanding access to AP courses and supporting student success. The school also earned the AP Access Award for its commitment to equity and opportunity for all learners.

Lynwood Unified is proud to provide equitable access to excellence — helping students unlock their brilliance and pursue their college dreams with purpose and pride.
