Visual & Performing Arts

At Lynwood Unified, we believe that every student deserves access to a well-rounded education — and that includes the arts. Our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program provides equitable access to high-quality arts education for all students, from Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade, empowering them to thrive academically and express themselves creatively.

Through a wide range of disciplines — including band, music, dance, theater, studio art, and video production — students are encouraged to explore their passions in nurturing environments that foster imagination and self-confidence.

““The inclusion of art in our curriculum has a significant impact on a student’s critical thinking, creativity and collaborative skills. We are incredibly proud to be able to provide our students with art programs that support our efforts to provide them with an enriching education.” - Mariana Astorga-Almanza, Ed.D., VAPA Coordinator

Our strong partnerships with The Music Center, ArtWorx LA, Conga Kids, PS Arts, and Turnaround Arts – including our Turnaround Arts schools at Washington and Abbott elementary – ensure that creativity is cultivated from an early age.

Each year, our District proudly showcases student talent at our annual Arts Festival and District Showcase, highlighting performances, art exhibits from across all schools, and the Conga Kids Dance semi-finals.
