Lynwood Unified, St. Anne’s Family Services Expand Early Childhood Education

Lynwood Unified School District, in partnership with St. Anne’s Family Services, is expanding its Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, providing Lynwood families with additional services and learning centers in 2022.

Two new center-based infant and toddler programs will open in early 2022 at Abbott and Lugo elementary schools, serving children aged 12 to 36 months. There will be 84 spaces available at Abbott Elementary and 80 spaces for young learners at Lugo Elementary.

“We are thrilled to partner with Lynwood Unified and the Los Angeles County Office of Education to bring our high quality early education programming to the children and families in the community,” said Lorna Little, President and CEO of St. Anne’s Family Services. “We look forward to working closely with all of our families to get them ready for Transitional Kindergarten and to prepare them to continue their educational journey.”

With a curriculum that encompasses family engagement, nutrition and health, mental health support and specialized services, St. Anne’s and Lynwood Unified’s ECE program equips students and parents with the skills and knowledge to smoothly progress to transitional pre-kindergarten for those who qualify.

St. Anne’s Family Services will also launch a new home-based program for infants and those who are pregnant. The program provides resources and support offered by an educational expert to help families meet important developmental milestones through virtual visits. St. Anne’s currently provides these services for 24 families in Lynwood and plans to offer these resources to more families.

“Early Childhood Education is a critical stage of education, as children learn invaluable skills that are important for them to thrive and grow,” LUSD Superintendent Dr. Gudiel R. Crosthwaite said. “These programs must be easily accessible so that our students and families are supported and nurtured.”

The ECE program is open for enrollment for the 2022 year. For more information on enrollment, please contact (977) PRE-K-KID (877-553-5543).
