Lugo Elementary School Celebrates Read Across America with Community Beautification Project

As part of National Read Across America Week, Lynwood Unified schools transformed into brightly colored Dr. Seuss-themed spaces as students and staff nurtured their love for literature, with Lugo Elementary School receiving a special treat from local volunteers.

Teacher Created Materials (TCM), an educational publishing company, adopted Lugo Elementary for its annual TCM Cares: Read Across America event on March 2. The event is part of TCM’s initiative to partner with schools across the country and provide materials to support student learning and promote literacy.

Lugo Elementary students engaged with over 100 event volunteers through reading, hands-on activities and backpack giveaways. Volunteers also completed beautification projects, which aim to make a positive impact on the school’s environment and create a positive learning experience for students.
