Lynwood High School Imperial Campus Demolition in Full Swing as District Welcomes New Facilities Project Manager

Following the demolition ceremony in early November, Lynwood High School’s Imperial Campus interior buildings are undergoing a comprehensive demolition estimated to be complete in February 2024, with construction beginning in Summer 2024.

On November 27, Lynwood Unified appointed Jorge Ramirez as the new Facilities Project Manager who will oversee the reconstruction project and support the District’s long-term facilities plan. With over 20 years of experience in public education, Ramirez looks forward to making an impact in the Lynwood community.

“I am truly grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the Lynwood Unified School District team,” Ramirez said. “The community of Lynwood deserves to have a state-of-the-art high school, and I am so happy to be a part of this project. As the Facilities Project Manager, my goal is to deliver a safe and modern building to the students and community of Lynwood.”

In December, contractors proceeded with the structural demolition of Building G3. Buildings G1 and G2 are currently undergoing interior demolition, which consists primarily of sorting and recycling metal, and the removal of non-load-bearing walls.

The new central building will feature a culinary arts kitchen and medical and art facilities with specialized equipment and technology. The baseball and softball fields will also be redesigned and rebuilt to enhance athletic and physical activities.

Lynwood Unified remains committed to transparency throughout the reconstruction process and looks forward to seeing construction commence in Summer 2024, marking a significant milestone for the District in its preparations to welcome students back to the campus in Fall 2027.
