Lynwood Unified honored its indispensable and inspiring classified professionals during the May 9 board meeting, naming Denaveice “Navi” Williams, a cherished member of the Lynwood High School Knight family, as its 2024 District Classified Employee of the Year.

A beloved custodian at the school, Williams received a loud round of applause from the audience, which included families, staff and Classified Employees of the Year from across the District.

Renowned among his peers for his unwavering dedication and proactive approach to maintaining safe, clean and inviting school facilities, Williams sets a high standard with his positive demeanor. His colleagues commend him for leading by example, showing professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic in everything he does. He is dependable and reliable, always willing to go the extra mile to support the needs of the school community.

In addition to Williams, all employees – from bus drivers and nutrition services staff to instructional assistants and secretaries – were celebrated during the meeting for exemplifying excellence in their roles to ensure Lynwood’s schools and District offices run smoothly while offering vital support to students.

“Our classified employees are the unsung heroes of our schools, tirelessly working behind the scenes to ensure our students have a safe, supportive and conducive learning environment,” Superintendent Gudiel R.
