COVID-19 Testing Program

Testing Program
We have partnered with Heluna Health, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) and the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) for our COVID-19 testing program.  COVID-19 testing is available on an as-needed basis to test students and staff using rapid antigen tests for the following reasons:
  • Experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
  • Return to work or school clearance
  • Ad hoc testing as required for athletics
  • Testing 3 - 5 days after exposure to an infected individual
  • District-wide distribution for testing before returning from a scheduled break (i.e. Thanksgiving and Winter Break)

Testing Options
The District provides two types of free COVID-19 testing to staff and students:  At-Home Test Kits & Point-of-Care Tests

At-Home Test Kits
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the expiration dates for many At-Home Test Kits, which includes those available through the District's testing program.  If the expiration date has passed on an At-Home Test Kit, locate the Lot # on the side of the box and confirm it's true expiration date utilizing the FDA's shelf-life extensions:
At-Home Test Kits distributed through this program are only to be used to to test Lynwood Unified School District students and staff members.  Each kit typically includes two tests and detailed instructions.

Primary Health Portal
The Primary Health Portal is utilized to log results for COVID-19 tests provided through the District's testing program.  This is a safe and secure portal for our school community members, which assists the District and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) to better anticipate and plan for possible surges.
  • Participants in the POC testing program are required to pre-register and complete a release form in the portal.  The Health Services staff member who administers the POC test logs the results in the portal.
  • Individuals who utilize our At-Home Test Kits are encouraged to self-report their results in the portal.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) Guidance
The Lynwood Unified School District follows the LACDPH guidance and protocols in our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our students and staff.
